Orchestra Auditions

*Have a great time playing exciting music with other dedicated young musicians from all over the San Antonio area.
*Perform numerous concerts conducted by leading music educators, including at least one performance in the renowned Tobin Center for Performing Arts.
*Enjoy sectional coaching from experienced music educators and professional musicians of the San Antonio Philharmonic.
*Make lifelong friends and memories with musicians from all over the San Antonio area while further developing your skills and talents.

At YOSA, you will have the opportunity to work alongside a diverse group of like-minded young musicians who are passionate, hard-working, and ready to learn. We challenge YOSA musicians to achieve beyond their expectations.

YOSA’s full orchestras include woodwind, brass, percussion, harp, and piano players in addition to string players. String orchestras are only for string players (violin, viola, cello, and bass).

* All string players ages 8-20 with at least one year of experience on violin, viola, cello, or bass.
* Flute players ages 8-20 with at least one year of experience.
* All other woodwind, brass, percussion, and harp players ages 13-20 with at least two years of experience.
* Participation in your school music program is mandatory.
* Home-schooled students are welcome.

Audition sign ups for the 2024/25 season are now closed. Please email registration@yosa.org to schedule an audition after May 31, 2024.

Auditions will be held in person at San Pedro Presbyterian Church (14900 San Pedro Ave, San Antonio, TX 78232) from June 1-3, 2024.

Audition results will be announced early summer 2024.

There is no fee to audition. Once placed in an orchestra after audition, tuition varies depending on the orchestra.

Yes. YOSA is committed to making our activities accessible for families, regardless of financial constraints. Financial aid is offered at the beginning of each season based on a family’s income, household size, and other family or financial circumstances. Families can expect strict confidentiality regarding their assistance application and results. Every effort will be made to meet the needs of young musicians and their families.

Rehearsals for the 2024/25 season begin in late August on Sundays. Rehearsal locations are:

Every audition is carefully considered for placement in the appropriate YOSA orchestra that will advance the musician in a stimulating environment. Once you have been placed in a YOSA orchestra, we highly recommend resolving any scheduling conflicts. If conflicts can’t be resolved, please contact the YOSA office at (210) 737-0097 or email auditions@yosa.org.

Yes. YOSA will provide large percussion instruments.

For the 2024/25 season, we plan for each YOSA Orchestra to perform in three major concerts and the season-finale concert, YOSApalooza. The YOSA Philharmonic will also participate in additional concerts throughout the season. Concert schedules are subject to change.
YOSA Summer Symphony Camp

YOSA Summer Symphony Camp 2024 tuition is $435 for one-week session. A non-refundable deposit of $50 per camper is due at the time of enrollment. All tuition is due June 10, 2024.
This year, YOSA will offer a lunch option, supplying campers with a cafeteria meal every day of camp for an additional $50.00.
YOSA will also offer extended drop off hours from 8:00am to 9:00am and extended pick up hours from 3:00pm to 4:00pm for an additional $50.

YOSA Summer Symphony Camp takes place July 8-12, July 15-19, and July 22-26, 2024 from 9:00am to 3:00pm at Saint Mary’s Hall (9401 Starcrest Dr, San Antonio, TX 78217).

Some camp session require an audition to place campers in the appropriate camp ensemble.

Families can expect strict confidentiality regarding their assistance application and results.
Every effort will be made to meet the needs of young musicians and their families.
Priority consideration will be given to those who apply by Friday, May 24, 2024. Applications submitted after May 24, 2024, will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. You can access the financial aid application on the YOSA Parent Dashboard under “Forms.”

Begin by logging into your YOSA Dashboard or create a profile HERE.
Go to your "Enrollments" page and click on "Enroll for 2024-2025.” Be sure to complete the "Pre-Enrollment Questions" and "Save & Continue.”
Choose the camp session(s) you would like to enroll in by clicking “Add Option” next to each camp session you would like to sign up for. Once selected then click "Save & Continue.” Complete all the Enrollment Questions then click "Save & Continue"
Complete all the Required Forms then click "Save & Continue”.
Select a payment method for paying the deposit along with payment amount. Musicians applying for financial aid should select “Apply for Tuition Assistance” under payment method. Musicians that are applying for financial aid do NOT have to pay the deposit.
Please review the "Terms and Conditions" and click the box to confirm. Sign your name at the bottom then click "Submit Enrollment Request.”
Please note: if you are choosing a camp session that requires a placement audition, you must also sign up for a camp placement audition AT THIS LINK. If you are interested in both YOSA Symphony Camp and YOSA Season, you only need ONE AUDITION.

Campers may miss no more than one full day of camp. If a camper misses more than a day, they will not be able to participate in the remainder of the session.
