YOSA Repertory Strings Conductor
Julie Post has recently retired after completing 29 years of teaching public school orchestra in San Antonio, TX. During her tenure as an orchestra director, she taught middle school and high school orchestras in North East ISD and Alamo Heights ISD. Mrs. Post is currently in her 3rd season conducting the Repertory Orchestra as part of the Youth Orchestra of San Antonio. She received her BME degree from Baylor University and began her orchestra teaching career in 1995. Her orchestras consistently earned sweepstakes ratings at UIL evaluations and Best in Class awards at music festivals across Texas. Mrs. Post is currently an active consultant, clinician, and adjudicator in San Antonio and surrounding areas.
Mrs. Post has received the Marjorie Keller Young Music Educator’s Award given by ASTA, a PTA life membership award, and was a teacher of the year at Bradley MS in NEISD. Mrs. Post is currently a member of the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA), the Texas Orchestra Directors Association (TODA), and Mu Omicron. She has served on the UIL Sightreading Committee and the UIL PML Committee. She has been a Conn-Selmer VIP since 2018. Mrs. Post is currently on the 2024 American Classic Tours and Music Festivals MasterClass faculty.
Mrs. Post is married to Andy Post, YOSA Wind Ensemble conductor. They have 2 sons, Tyler (23), a math major and baseball player at TLU in Seguin, TX, and Ryan (20) former YOSA Philharmonic cellist studying cello performance at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. The Post family loves to travel and has been to all 30 major league baseball stadiums!
